VideoLAN’s news archive lists VLC 3.0.24, dated 22 September 2026, as a significant security update with changes across the player and bundled libraries. The announcement also records playback, capture and platform fixes.
The LTTSF perspective
The table tennis connection is straightforward: a coach may use a shared laptop or tablet to review recordings between sessions. In LTTSF’s view, the useful software discussion is the whole routine around that device, rather than a list of codec names.
What this could mean for your club
Keep an agreed folder structure, label clips by match and session, and write observations in a portable document with timestamps. Check that the relevant files play on the device before the group arrives, then schedule updates outside training time. Use recordings you are entitled to keep and show. The featured Android screenshot illustrates VLC playback; it does not depict the September desktop update or claim that a particular analysis feature was added.
